Belinda Missen writes contemporary romance that transports readers to sun-drenched Australian coastlines, snow-dusted London streets, and anywhere hearts collide with possibility.

While originally slated as part of a trilogy, A Recipe for Disaster and Lessons in Love were released singly. That changes in late 2027 when both books will take their rightful place in the Starward Bay trilogy, along with The Last Shelf, featuring fan-favourite Patrick Nicholls. All three books will be relaunched with entirely new edits and covers.

As well as writing romance, Belinda co-wrote the screenplay Escape from the Commodore 64 with David Hearne, which won Best Original Screenplay at the 2023 Gold Coast Film Festival. Her work across both mediums is rooted in authentic emotion and stories that make you laugh, cry, and want to book a flight.

Readers have praised her work for its "vivid sense of place" and "characters that feel like old friends."

Based in Melbourne, Belinda is a devoted Mhairi McFarlane fan whose autistic special interest is Jurassic Park — she owns a Ford Explorer currently being converted into a film replica. When not writing, she's cooking elaborate curries, baking cakes, reducing food waste, or enjoying a solid pinot noir. A good sleep-in is her idea of luxury.
