A Delightful and Heartwarming Read – Highly Recommend!
Karen Louise Hollis has done it again with The Whitlock Close Weddings! This charming sequel transports us back to the cozy village of Whitlock Close in the early 1980s, where we catch up with familiar faces and new beginnings. While it’s the second book in the series, you can easily jump in without reading the first—though I’d definitely recommend both!
At the heart of the story are two weddings—one a grand, celebrity affair featuring Sarah Willington and pop star Mark Thomas, and the other a more down-to-earth, touching ceremony with Norman, who may just have a surprise up his sleeve. But this book isn’t just about the weddings; it’s about the whole village, with stories weaving together in a way that makes you feel like part of the community. From young Louise facing tough decisions about her future in gymnastics to missing cats and festive holiday plans, the book is packed with warmth, humor, and those little everyday moments that make life so special.
One of my favorite things about this book is how Hollis captures the nostalgia of the 1980s, from the music to the simpler way of life. The characters feel real, like neighbors you’d love to have—flawed, funny, and full of heart. Even when the story touches on heavier topics like loss and mental health, it does so with grace, making it an uplifting and comforting read.
If you love books that make you smile, characters that feel like old friends, and stories that wrap you in a warm hug, The Whitlock Close Weddings is a must-read. I finished it feeling happy and nostalgic, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Whitlock Close!
